Education Reform Act Signed Into Law

The Funeral Service & Cremation Alliance of Wisconsin (FSCA), with the full support of Cress Funeral & Cremation Service

is happy to announce that Governor Evers signed AB 576 / SB 518, the Funeral Director Education Reform Act into law yesterday. The legislation would amend current law to require 24 credits of prerequisites before entering mortuary school, thereby allowing individuals an opportunity to complete their mortuary school education in two years instead of three or more.

The FSCA worked with the Milwaukee Area Technical College's Mortuary School (MATC) to pass this important legislation. MATC will use this new law change to help their students get through the program faster and with an increased emphasis on mortuary school coursework. Overall, this is a win for those interested in our profession and the future of funeral service in Wisconsin.
