Scott Tyre

February 20, 1962 — September 23, 2022

Middleton

Scott Patton Tyre, age 60, of Middleton, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly, peacefully in his sleep on September 23, 2022. A Southern gentleman through and through, Scott was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 20, 1962 to Travis Allen Tyre Sr. and Janet Patton Tyre. Scott  attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School and later graduated high school from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. Growing up, Scott cherished his close-knit family and the memories they made together–especially the summers and holidays they spent at the family farm in southern Georgia, where Scott fished, hunted, and rode motorcycles.

Scott attended Florida State University for three years where he studied accounting and worked at Rick’s Oyster Bar.  He went on to the University of North Florida to continue his studies and it was there he discovered his innate talent for politics.  Scott started his political career working for Florida Governor Bob Graham and then traveled the country helping candidates run for US Senate, Congress, Governor, and Mayor.  Scott was a nationally-recognized political consultant, fundraiser and close advisor to many national, state and local elected officials.

In 1998, Scott’s work led him to Wisconsin where he met and, in 2001, married the love of his life, Tanya Bjork. Scott then founded Capitol Navigators and along with his wife, provided political and strategic guidance to a wide variety of clients.  Highly respected in his field, he was elected by his peers as President of the Association of Wisconsin Lobbyists in 2008. Though he historically supported Democratic candidates and progressive causes, he had the increasingly uncommon ability to establish strong relationships across the political aisle.

In 2014, Scott and Tanya joyfully celebrated the birth of their much-longed-for daughter, Claire Bjork Tyre. Scott was an exceptional, wholly devoted father.  He never missed a practice, game or performance and loved nothing more than being with his “Claire Bear'' and watching her grow up.  To know that he can no longer do that is painful beyond description, but the unconditional love he poured into her heart for 8 years will last a lifetime.

Scott had a deep love for the outdoors and especially for enjoying the natural beauty of Wisconsin’s lakes. Some of Scott’s favorite activities included golf, boating, watching sports, visiting his many friends and creating memories at their family cabin on Mercer Lake.

Scott was a man of great generosity and kindness. His unique ability at connecting with people from all walks of life meant that anyone who was lucky enough to cross his path would be welcomed into his heart and would walk away smiling. Friends knew Scott was the one we could always count on. Qualities and character the world today sorely needs and his friends will terribly miss.

He is preceded in death by his parents Travis Allen Tyre Sr., Janet Patton Tyre, and brother in law Michael E. Schmelz.  Scott is survived by his wife Tanya Marie Bjork, daughter Claire Bjork Tyre, brother Travis Allen Tyre, Jr. (Linda), sister Anita Tyre Schmelz, father and mother in law Tony and Sharon Bjork, nieces and nephews Brittainy Elizabeth Speicher (Skyler), Hunter Stephens Beck, Travis Allen Tyre III (Breanna), William Alexander Tyre (Ally), Kelly Frances Tyre, West MartinTyre, Ralph Whatley Malone V, Hope Regan Malone, Dax Riley Speicher and Travis Allen Tyre IV.
