Mary Grady

June 6, 1951 — February 8, 2023

Stoughton

Mary E. Grady, a dear long-time resident of Stoughton, WI, died suddenly on February 8th,

2023. She suffered a massive stroke at home, and died peacefully 4 days later at St. Mary’s

Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary was born on June 6th, 1951 to the late Francis and Ida Mae Janowak, in Lake Geneva,

WI.

Mary had been a constant friendly face at Culver’s and McDonald’s for over 40 years. She had

a way about her, she could connect with almost anyone. There were dozens upon dozens of

beautiful friendships made.

She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. There is nothing she

wouldn’t do for them. She never missed a Birthday or sporting event, rain or shine. She was

always being silly, and making light of the moment. She adored her Grandkids, and they adored

her. She was a selfless lady with a big heart. Always making sure the people around her were

cared for and loved. She enjoyed being outdoors playing in her garden, feeding the squirrels

and the birds, and taking her beloved dog Westin for walks. Westin held a big place in her heart,

she was her precious baby.

Later in life, Mary married Robert Grady of Madison. They resided together in Stoughton for the

last 24 years. Both have been longtime members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. They enjoyed

going to Fireside for dinner and a show, watching the Packers and the Badgers, going for drives

to their favorite casino, amongst many other things.

St. Ann’s Church has played a big part in Mary's life, many friendships were created over the

years with so many beautiful people. When she made a commitment, she gave it her all. Mary

sold roses on Mother’s Day for over 25 years, volunteered for numerous committees, and took

every usher shift that came her way. She truly was a gem.

Mary is survived by her husband Robert Grady; her daughters, Carrie Richter (Jeffery Schultz),

Kelly Wrase Searle, Jennifer Wrase Maier, 8 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, 3 brothers,

Jay, Mike, and Jim Janowak, and her 2 dear friends, Kathi Sopher & Sherrie Janowak, “Sisters

in love”.
