Lois Hagen

February 16, 1930 — October 30, 2021

Lois M Hagen (née Wright), 91, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side near Madison, WI on October 30, 2021. Lois was born February 16, 1930 to the Reverend Dr. Clarence N. & Margaret Wright and lived in Chicago, IL. However, she spent all her summers in Estes Park, Colorado where she retired to in 1996.

Lois married Tom Carroll in 1951 and had 3 children, Edward (Ted) Carroll, Jennifer Hill and Mitzi (Stephen) Klancir. After Tom and Lois parted ways, Lois and Fred dated for 10 years until they married in 1985 where she gained a step-son, Michael (Deanna) Hagen and step-daughter Jennifer (Randy) O’Drich.

Lois enjoyed teaching 2nd grade, she worked at Park Ridge School for Girls in Park Ridge and then became the Financial Aid advisor for Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL. Lois was an avid bridge player and taught beginning bridge to many new players. She loved all sports and had a very competitive spirit. She especially loved football, horseback riding, sailing, hiking, baseball and just about every sport imaginable. Lois was an animal lover with numerous German short-haired pointer dogs, cats and other pets.  She was a strong and independent woman with a stubborn streak, and a spunky yet quirky side. She was driven yet compassionate, creative and smart, very social and outgoing and enjoyed the conversations of many. She proudly announced she was “very Scotch” with her money.  Lois touched the hearts of all she met during her long and colorful life and will be dearly missed by all.

Lois is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, “Nanny”, her Father, mother, and brothers C.. Robert and Ben Bruce, and step-son Michael Hagen. She is survived by her children, 8 grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lois will be cremated and her ashes spread in Colorado in a private ceremony.
