Judy Marcum

January 31, 1947 — April 20, 2023

Madison

Judy Jo Marcum passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a years-long illness on April 20, 2023, at the age of 76.

She was born on January 31, 1947, in Boscobel, WI, the daughter of Kenneth and Marian Harris. She married James Marcum on February 24, 1968, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort, WI.

Judy graduated from Iowa-Grant High School and Madison Vocational College. After school, she worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon the birth of their daughter, Mandy, Judy stayed home to focus her attention on being a loving mother. She returned to work at Dean Medical Center, where she spent the remainder of her career.

As a family, they loved playing cards, cheering on the Badgers, going out to eat, and spending time with their close friends and loved ones. Judy cherished her time as “Yaya” to her grandson Miles. She loved reading him stories, playing games, sneaking him sweets, puzzle races, and especially snuggling together watching movies.

Judy also enjoyed tending her flower garden, reading, and spending time with Molly, their family cat, whom she is no doubt reunited with once again. Holidays were a cherished time by Judy, as she grew up in a home where holidays and traditions were revered, and those sentiments and values will be carried forward by her family for generations to come.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Ken and Marian (Payne) Harris and father- and mother-in-law Bob and Claire (Wienkers) Marcum. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim, daughter Mandy, grandson Miles, sister Darcy (Rick) Perrin, and nieces Erica Perrin and Haley (Ryan) Sacotte.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice and her nurse Mavis for making Judy's last days loving and peaceful.

Following Judy’s wishes, her immediate family attended a  ceremony at St. James Lutheran Church in Verona, WI.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice.
