Henry "Bud" G. Freiss

Henry George Freiss passed away peacefully at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI with his children by his side on January 8, 2023.  Henry, known by family and friends as “Bud”, was born on October 24, 1927. He was 95 years old.

Bud is survived by three of his four children, Susan Freiss, Kate Mickle (spouse David) and Jim Freiss (spouse Cari) in addition to eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His son John and his wife Anne of 66 years both passed away in 2018. 

Bud served in the US military in World War II, was a dairy farmer, teacher, and a school superintendent. He lived an adventurous and successful life in Lebanon Township, New Jersey and in later years, Vero Beach, Florida and Madison, Wisconsin. He inspired, encouraged, and loved his family and friends. Bud was a religious man and lived his faith. His determination and sense of humor served him well & blessed those around him.

A gathering will be from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 AM.  Immediately following Mass, friends and family will bring Bud’s urn to reunite with his wife at Highland Memory Gardens, 3054 County Road BB, Madison, WI 53718 with full military honors.
