Elizabeth "Betty" Perras

November 26, 1922 — January 17, 2021

Elizabeth (Betty) Perras died peacefully at All Saints Memory Care on January 17, 2021.  She was born on November 26, 1922 in Fort William, Ontario, Canada.  Betty was predeceased by her husband, Floyd, her son Jerry, and her sister Madge Ailey and brother Robert Dillon.  She is survived by her loving family: son Robert, daughter Gail (Tom) Hansen, daughter Penny (Alan) Moss, daughter-in-law Debby (Sinaiko) Perras, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

After living in various cities with her husband, an NHL goalie, the family settled in Madison, Wisconsin in 1961.  Betty was a valued employee of J C Penney Company and an active volunteer at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Saint Mary’s Hospital.  She was an avid golfer, reader, card club participant, and member of the K C Ladies.  She and her husband traveled extensively, playing golf at numerous picturesque courses.  In later years, Betty and her sister Madge enjoyed several cruises seeing sights at diverse locations such as the Panama Canal and various Caribbean Islands. She became an avid Wisconsin Badgers football fan, attending many games both home & away.

As a young girl in Canada, Betty rode local streetcars, spent Saturdays with her train Conductor grandfather, walked to school, and loved ice skating.  She spent summers swimming in Lake Superior and Boulevard Lake.  She was introduced to her future husband, Floyd, in 1940.  They were married two years later, a courtship that lasted another fifty-five years.

Betty was admired and will be most remembered by her family and friends for her warmth, kindness, enthusiasm, and optimistic spirit.

The family wishes to thank Emily, Jessica, Connie, Amy and all the staff at All Saints Memory Care that cared and comforted our mother in her final years, and Chelsea and the staff of Agrace Hospice Care for their care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Multicultural Center of Madison, or charity of choice. Due to the current pandemic, services will be private. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
