Dr. D. Moyer

April 3, 1937 — September 26, 2021

Dr. D. David Moyer, age 84, of Madison, died at Meriter on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Born April 3, 1937 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of the late Daris Daniel Moyer and Mary Elizabeth Cooper Moyer. David graduated from Prospect High School and went on to earn his B.S. and M.S. from The Ohio State University and PhD from The University of Wisconsin – Madison.

On July 31, 1960 he married Marian E. Wildey.

David was a strong Christian man with a faith that ran deep. He and Marian spent many hours in study and prayer together, growing closer to God and helping guide their family in the quiet strength and joy that comes from a firm foundation.

David was an economist, researcher, and geographic information specialist for various federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the National Geodetic Survey in the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Bureau of the Census, and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. During his career he was able to travel across the globe helping states and foreign countries with their land record systems. During this time he also served in various roles, including President of URISA. He met and befriended many people during his years working.

Grandpa/Papa has 6 wonderful grandchildren and 2 great grandsons who he adored. Any chance he had to attend an event for them he was there cheering them on, whether it was band, dance, gymnastics, alpaca events, karate, ice skating events, soccer, volleyball, baseball, or t-ball. He would also volunteer to help at their schools with different fund-raising events, from making pies to bidding on items at an auction, you could always count on him to be there encouraging the kids with a smile and the biggest heart.

One of the many ways that David cared for his family was by ensuring the children and grandchildren were able to experience historic locations and new cities. He organized and led many trips for the family, both around the country and around the world. Each child and grandchild can tell you countless ‘road trip’ stories and of his love for singing along with the Gaithers as he drove the highway.

David's life is a testimony to God's goodness. With each new addition to our family and passing years, David grew deeper in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control to the point where at the end David’s words to us were "it's all good' and "keep loving each other".

Survivors include his wife, Marian; his sister Maryann (Bob) Agnew; his children - Pamela Warriner, David Daniel (Diane) Moyer, Lisa (Dale) Le Duc; his grandchildren – Cathleen (Dave) Heath, Colton Warriner, Annelle Moyer, Daniel Moyer, Emma Le Duc, and Caleb Moyer; his great-grandchildren – Phillip and Theodore Heath; and many loved extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Tom and Helen Wildey, his sister Janet (Charles) English, BILs - Carl and Thomas Wildey, SIL – Lois Ireton, and son-in-law, George Warriner.
