Doris Spencer

Doris Butler Spencer, aged 96, died on Monday, July 20, 2020.  She was born in Madison, Wisconsin on October 30, 1923 to Ralph and Laurene Butler.  Doris married Rodney Spencer on April 20, 1949 and they raised 3 children and one grandson in the Madison area.

Doris was devoted to her children, loved playing bridge with her club, and enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers, especially when they were winning.  A favorite pastime throughout her life was to go on long car rides to take in the beauty of Wisconsin’s changing seasons.

Doris is survived by her sons, Scott Spencer (Debbie Overton) and Marc Spencer (Pat McDonald), her grandchildren, Mat Duerst (Joanne Carter), Kailyn Spencer (Ben Ellison) and Nicholas Spencer (Stephanie Spencer) and a great granddaughter, Teagan Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rodney and her daughter Laurie Spencer.

Internment will be at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church during a private ceremony for family and close friends.  A celebration of Doris’s life will be held at a future date when it is safe for us to all be together again.
