Stoughton- Donna Jean Melaas, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Oregon Manor. She was born in Stoughton on July 25, 1937, the daughter of Ryburn and Christine Gunsolus. Donna was a lifelong resident of Stoughton. She graduated from Stoughton High School. Donna was a well-respected waitress in the Stoughton community. Many people have seen Donna walking throughout Stoughton with daily walks to Holtans Drug Store to grab a Coke, or to get her hair done once a week. Most recently her walks took her to McDonalds for her morning Coke. The center of Donna’s universe were her children, and she would go without to see them flourish. Donna is survived by her children, Kim (Gloria) Morris, Ken (Julie) Morris, Kris (Brad) Leikness, and Cory (Michelle) Christiaansen; five grandchildren, Joshua (Lori) Morris, Paul (Melissa) Johnson Jr., Becky (Jason) Johnson, Tara Morris, and Kelsey Leikness; four great grandchildren, Robert, Mackynzie, McKinley and Mayven; brothers, Jerry (Jean) and Richard Gunsolus; sister, Pat Hutson; many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis Melaas; infant son, Steven Morris; and sisters, JoAnn Teigen, Darlene Carlson, and Charlene Kenseth. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare Inc. A special thank you to the staff at Oregon Manor for keeping mom comfortable for the last three years. Please share your memories of Donna by posting on her Tribute Wall.
