Danny Covarrubias

January 17, 1982 — November 30, 2021

Danny was born during a snowstorm on Jan. 17th, 1982. Our mother, always the warrior, had to walk to the hospital while in labor. From the moment Danny took his first breath, mom fought for him and wanted for him to survive, to thrive and to make it in this world. As the middle child in a family of 5, he was the one that all of us could connect with.

As a child, Danny always tried to make us feel better when we were sad or worried, he had a natural gift for making people smile and was always able to recite song lyrics and quote our favorite movies with insane accuracy on a whim.  At school he was quiet and shy but at home he was completely different. Hector and Danny were like two peas in a pod- always scheming the next adventure and as soon as Julie was old enough they became the 3 Musketeers. The five of us siblings always found ways to have fun and make the best of our situations.

As an adult, Danny could win anyone over with his smile and his conversational skills. He could sell anything to anyone. Danny was also an artist. He could mix colors and styles creating beautiful works of art.

As we reflect, we realize Danny never did anything in a traditional way. He loved with such intensity. If anyone ever needed help, regardless of the situation, we all knew we could call Danny and he would be there.

When Danny was sober he was amazing. Sober Danny was fun, loving, kind and caring. All his nieces and nephews loved being with Uncle Danny. Sober Danny was a hard worker, he had dreams, visions of a stable future, one where he was a good father, provider and role model to his children.

Most importantly he leaves behind his two beautiful children, whom he loved more than anything in this world. We will share the positive, the beautiful stories with his children to keep Danny’s memories alive. We will also share his struggles and heartbreak in hopes that the cycle does not repeat itself.

We will remember him smiling and laughing with music blaring in the background.

Survivors include daughter, Sophia Lynn, son, Vincent Chase, father Ismael Covarrubias, siblings, Cinthya (Adolfo), Jorge (Angela), Hector (Krista), Julie (Steven), and nieces and nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Maria Del Rosario Covarrubias.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

There will forever be a hole in our hearts.

We love you Danny.
