Anne Degraff

MADISON - Anne Louise DeGraff, age 88, of Madison, passed away at Agrace hospice in Fitchburg on the afternoon of April 7, 2021. Born in Chicago, IL on September 20, 1932, to the late John and Mary (Belan) Firak. She was preceded in death by younger brother John “Johnny” Firak.  Anne graduated from Austin High School in Chicago and was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. She was the beloved wife of Edward M. DeGraff, and they were married in 1965 and moved to Wisconsin where they settled in the west side of Madison. Ed departed this life in 2007.

Anne was proud of her Slovak heritage and enjoyed Slovak dishes and folk music. She travelled around the United States as well as to places outside the country such as Mexico and the Czech Republic. Anne was passionate about collecting and her home was festooned with numerous antiques, heirlooms and knickknacks.

She is survived by three sons; Christopher Svec (from a previous marriage), and Peter and Michael DeGraff. “Granny Annie” will be missed by her grandchildren, Nikki, Noah, Amy, Jesus, Kimberly, Michelle, and Michael; as well as family members and friends. Interment and funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Bohemian National Cemetery, 5255 N Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL, at 11am.
