Wilma Marie Hollman

Waunakee-Wilma Marie Hollman age 88 passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tues Oct. 5, 2010 at her home at Waunakee Manor. She was born on July 20, 1922, in Friendship, WI to Paul and Mary Petruska. She grew up in rural Friendship, and married Ellis James Hollman on Feb. 28, 1943 he preceded her in death on Feb 11, 2002. They moved to Madison in 1950 and then to Waunakee. Wilma worked for Dr. Soderholm, and was a bookkeeper and head cashier at Kohl's grocery store until she and Ellis retired. They enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor home and then in their Florida retirement home. For the last 25 years, she resided in Waunakee. Wilma enjoyed traveling, loved to play cards, bingo and read. She was a party planner from day one, and very much enjoyed organizing monthly donut breakfasts for those living in her apartment building. Over the last eight years, she and her close friend, Lucy Ward, had a great time trying various restaurants in the area, and often invited neighbors to join them. She enjoyed excellent health her entire life, and was blessed by many good friends, near and far. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Kirby) Rodger of Baraboo, a son Gene (Veronica) of Waunakee, Seven grandchildren; Kirsten (Gordon Storlie), Stacy (Tim Jax), Kim (Jeff Birkett, Cynthia Brown (Dave Leonard), Matthew (Tammy), Jake (Michelle) and Kelly (Todd Jacobs) and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis, and a brother Clarence. Funeral services will be held on Fri Oct 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. Rev Sharon Cook will preside. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home on Thurs Oct 7, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Roselawn Cemetery in Madison. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Waunakee Manor for all the support, friendship, and (according to Wilma) good food they provided her in the last few months.
