William Roloff

Madison - William Robert Roloff, age 56, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 23, 2014. He was born in Madison, WI on November 13, 1957, the youngest child of Barbara and Frank Roloff. He was a lifelong resident of Madison. After graduating from Madison West High School in 1976, he began working at Madison Gas and Electric Company where he remained for 37 years. He married Suzanne Hohlstein in 1993, and they were married for 21 years.

He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, creating woodworking projects, watching old movies and gardening. He was a master carpenter who remodeled his home and made beautiful furniture. Bill was well-known for his famous chocolate chip cookies and shrimp dinners. His beloved dogs were his children, and he especially loved to spend time with them.

Bill was a very kind, loving, generous, hard-working, and compassionate man. He was a devoted son who cared for his parents, especially helping out with his father Frank during his final years. Bill had a great sense of humor and always looked at the positive side of life. Everyone who knew him loved him, and he will be greatly missed by family, friends, and his work family at Madison Gas and Electric. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all those at MG&E who have provided their help and support through this difficult time.

He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Roloff of Madison, his sister Karla (George) Bedord of Madison, his brother Frank (Kathy) Roloff Jr. of Madison, and brother David (Beth) Roloff of Madison, sisters in-law Lisa Selje of Elkhorn, Amy Hohlstein (Kurt Benzine) of Poynette, parents-in-law Don and Sally Hohlstein of Rio, and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Frank Roloff.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1:00-4:00pm at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A private Celebration of Life ceremony for immediate family will follow the visitation.
