William Cencic

MADISON
William Stephen Cencic passed away at Milestone Memory Care in Cross Plains, Wisconsin, on January, 18, 2017, at the age of 90.

He was born on November 20, 1926, at home, in Ely, Minnesota, to Margaret and Vide Cencic. Bill attended elementary school in Ely, Minnesota, before moving to Madison. He graduated from Central High School, and soon afterwards, joined the US Navy. Upon naval discharge, he met Jean Schleicher, and they were married at St. James Catholic Church in Madison, on May 20, 1950.

Bill worked at Gisholt Machine Company, Madison Power and Light, and Bell and Howell Company, before embarking upon a career as an independent life insurance agent. He retired from this endeavor at the age of 80. He was proud of his Croatian heritage, played steel guitar on the radio during high school, had a well-developed sense of humor, was a practical jokester, and a kind man. He enjoyed cooking, tending to his garden, a game of golf, playing cards, and, was immensely proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, daughters, Kathy (Ed) Brandt, Paula (Brian) Wermich, Carol (Kevin) Rommelfanger, Mary (Rick) Bennett, six grandchildren; Matt (Jess) Wermich, Stephanie (Tony) O'Rourke, Jennifer (Vikas) Goel, Lindsay (Jim) Trustem, Charles (Eva) Bennett, Billy (Molly) Bennett, and seven great-grandchildren, Aiden Wermich, Lilianna and Lucy O'Rourke, Rylan Bennett, Rickey and Kai Bennett, and Krishna Goel.

The family would like to thank Milestone Memory Care in Cross Plains and Agrace Hospice, for their expert care, love, and, support. Per Bill's wishes, there will be no visitation, and burial will be private. Memorials may be made, in Bill's name, to Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI, 53711. We will miss you Dad - Your Four Lennon Sisters and Jeannie Babe.
