Willard Doerfert

Sun Prairie - Willard Doerfert, age 95, died on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Brookdale in Sun Prairie. He was born on June 20, 1921 in Hartford, WI the son of Felix and Alma (Lenz) Doerfert. Willard married Anna Mae Heberlein on July 6, 1946 in Horicon. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2014. They moved to Hartford after being married and farmed for seven years. Willard then went to work for Dairy Equipment Company in Hartford/Madison for 33 years retiring in 1987. Willard's hobbies were gardening, hunting, Musky fishing and fixing things. He spent a lot of time making his famous Musky lures and telling everyone his fish stories. Willard was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughters, Sheri (Isaac) Knapton and Robin (Jerry) Mulcahy; grandchildren, Tamara, Dylan and Chance; brother, Lawrence (Jean) Doerfert; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Willard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Raymond (Dolores) Doerfert and a sister, Bernice (Frank) Weidmeyer.

Funeral services will be at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Luke Werre officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. The family wishes to thank Brookdale of Sun Prairie and Heartland Hospice for their kind and loving care.
