Sun Prairie - Willard W. Borchert, age 93 passed away at Prairie Gardens on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. He was born on May 4, 1920 in Marshall, the son of William and Hilda (Hoene) Borchert. Willard graduated from Marshall High School and the University of Whitewater. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during WWII. In February of 1945, Willard married the love of his life, Beatrice Johnson. She passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2005. From 1946 to 1960, Willard was a Sun Prairie High School teacher and senior class advisor. Then from 1960 to 1969, he taught for the Madison Business College and then for his remaining employment years he worked for Rural Insurance until his retirement in 1985. In his spare time, Willard loved playing cards and most of all spending time with his family.
Willard is survived by his two sons; Neil Borchert of Cambridge and Steven Borchert of Portage, Michigan, two grandchildren; Tony (Kelly) Borchert of Skokie, IL and Nicole (Tom) Grosinske of Whitewater, three great grandchildren; Abby, Brock and Calli Grosinske and a brother; Hilmer "Bud" (Ellie) Borchert.
He is also survived by many other loving family and friends.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beatrice, daughter in law; Kathryn Borchert brother; Daniel and sister; Lila.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 221 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 11:00 am with Father Vincent Brewer presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Graveside services will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Willard to the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund.
