Wayne Mosley

Middleton: Wayne Jeffrey Mosley, age 70, died in his Town of Middleton home on November 28, 2017. He was born in Chicago on January 17, 1947 to parents Clement and Jean (Marks) Mosley. Wayne grew up less than a block from Lake Michigan on the north side of Chicago and loved visiting Wrigley Field every chance he got to watch the Cubs play.

After earning his Law degree from the University of Illinois in 1973, Wayne moved up to Madison. In April of 1974, his knack for business and love of food led him to open the first-ever Rocky Rococo Pan Style Pizza on Gilman Street. Rocky's became his life's work, and the restaurant chain eventually grew to over 125 stores. Wayne embraced the goofy Rocky character and loved innovating with Rocky's humorous advertising.

In his free time Wayne loved getting outdoors by walking his dogs in the woods, watching the Badgers and his favorite Chicago sports teams play, and his morning ritual of completing the daily crossword and other newspaper puzzles. He enjoyed live music like seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert, and traveled down to New Orleans almost every year with friends for Jazz Fest.

Wayne was best known for his warmth, intelligence, sense of humor, and generosity. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica, ex-wife Patricia, sister Stefanie, brother Brian, plus his lovable labrador Gus and adorable mutt Daisy. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held in the early spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne's name to the charity of your choice. Please share a memory.
