REEDSBURG - Wayne Joseph Johll, age 38, departed from his earthly journey on September 21, 2013 at his home from natural causes.
He was born the fourth son of Warren and Janice (Walz) Johll on January 8, 1975 in Lancaster, WI. Wayne graduated from Lancaster HS in 1993. He then moved to Madison and worked at Woodman Foods for several years. It was during this time that he devoted many hours/seasons working with special needs children and adults through YMCA East, preparing them for competition in basketball, softball, volleyball and Special Olympics. He was very proud of his "Wall of Awards" displayed in his family room. It was his devotion to children and community that attracted Katie Chase to assist him and his endeavors, with them joining together in marriage on August 12, 2006 at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Madison. In addition to his volunteer work, Wayne began a new career with Charter Communications in the fall of 1995 in Madison. When Wayne and Katie decided to settle their family in Reedsburg he transferred to the Baraboo District location.
Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and human being. The world has lost an amazing individual. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, fishing, making soup and lasagna, and spending time in the North Woods. His talents also included woodworking, glass etching and making friends with people from all walks of life. When the work day was done, his girls couldn't wait until he was out of his work clothes so they could spend the rest of the evening at his side. Everywhere he went Wayne's magic personality drew admirers both young and old.
Wayne is survived by his best friend and wife Kathryn (Chase) Johll; three daughters Julianna (15), Reese (6), and Grace (4) of Reedsburg; parents Warren and Janice Johll of Lancaster; brothers Mark Johll of Poynette, Daniel (Lynette) of La Farge, and Kenneth (LuAnne) of Cassville; sister Donna (Craig) Hanson of Rio; father-in-law and mother-in-law Tom and Judy Chase of Land O'Lake, WI; brother-in-law Brett (Elizabeth) Chase of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law Rebecca (Ben) Scharff of Oak Creek, WI; 25 nieces and nephews (including a special niece to whom he was a father figure for many years); and 7 great nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Leone Walz, and Carl and Viola Johll; uncles Michael Johll, Robert Walz, Harold Walz, and Celestine Walz; and a niece, Megan Johll.
A Celebration of Wayne's Life will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI, on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 11:00am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make your donations to Katie Johll for the Wayne Johll Family Fund at WCCU Credit Union, 820 Viking Drive, Reedsburg, WI, 53959 (wccucreditunion.coop) or to a charity of your choice in Wayne's name. "In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world"
-Jesus Christ (John 16:33)
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
A time to be born and a time to die,
A time to plant and a time to uproot,
A time to kill and a time to heal,
A time to tear down and a time to build,
A time to weep and a time to laugh,
A time to mourn and a time to dance,
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
A time to search and a time to give up,
A time to keep and a time to throw away,
A time to tear and a time to mend,
A time to be silent and a time to speak,
A time to love and a time to hate,
A time for war and a time for peace.
