Walton 'Wally' Nelson

Walton A. Wally' Nelson, age 89, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.   Wally was born at the home of Edith Lockwood, midwife, in Edgerton.   He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1938 and married Viola Jenson in 1942.   He served four years in the Army, participating in the occupation of Japan, and was discharged in 1946.   Wally worked for the Albion Township, retiring after 37 years of dedicated service.   He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will also be remembered for his generous nature, love of animals and soft heart.   Wally is survived by his wife of 67 years, Viola; 3 children, Dennis Nelson, Janice (Mike) Watkins, and Vicki Nelson; 2 grandchildren, Brad ( Sharon) Nelson and Greg (Gretchen) Nelson; 2 great grandchildren, Emily and Lucas Nelson; a brother, Wesley Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gilman, Howard, and Ruffin Nelson; and 2 sisters, Amber Driscoll and Audrey Thompson.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.   Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South in Stoughton.   The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 12th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.   A full obituary will follow.
