Walter Wigglesworth

DANE-Walter A. "Walt" Wigglesworth, aged 83, of Dane, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in his family home in Dane. He was born in that same home on June 4, 1933, to Charles William and Esther (Chrislaw) Wigglesworth. After being drafted into the US Army, Walt returned home to Wisconsin and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Dairy Science. He married Jean H. Wilbur in Lodi on June 24, 1958.

While farming the family farm in the Town of Dane, Walt also worked other jobs in Madison and surrounding areas. He retired from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002. Walt was also known as "Uncle Wiggly" on the airwaves of WIBU-AM for several years. He surely loved his "polka music" and his fans. Walt was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waunakee.

Walt is survived by his loving wife, Jean, and children, Marcia Chase of Dane, Peter (Rhonda) Wigglesworth of Lodi, Douglas Wigglesworth of Dane; and Julia (Ed) Ho of Denver. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Charlotte Ellen Padley of Pine River, Manitoba; his brother, Richard Glen (Barbara) of Hernando, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, his mother- and father-in-law, Victor and Virginia (Rankin) Wilbur; son, Lawrence Allen Wigglesworth; and brother-in-law, Donald Padley.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 5763 County Rd Q, Waunakee with Rev. Ben Ehrets officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. or First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee in memory of Walt.

The family would like to thank Pastors Kirk Morledge and Ben Ehrets, as well as the Deacons of First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee, and Agrace HospiceCare for their excellent care and support during Walt's illness.
