Madison, WI - Walter C. Deterding, age 80, previously of Morton, IL, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Attic Angel Place in Middleton, WI.
Walt was born August 27, 1932 in Bluffs, IL to the late Rev. John and Salome (Schwagmeyer) Deterding. After high school, he loyally served two years in the Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He married the late Beverly R. Schneider, on August 2, 1958 and enjoyed 52 blessed years of marriage. He spent his lifetime in the printing industry. He loved his craft and taught numerous people the trade. He lived out his faith in Christ as a role model with a positive attitude and strong work ethic; his contagious smile will be remembered by all who knew him.
Surviving are his two sons and one daughter; Mark (Kim) Deterding of Alexandria MN, Roger (Kelly) Deterding of Blue Mounds, WI, Rita (Rob) Strickler of Peru, Il., and his nine grandchildren; David (Abby) and Dan Deterding, Elizabeth, Erin and Kathryn Deterding, Andy (Tricia), Zach, Chelsey and Alex Strickler. He is also survived by brothers George and Roland (Pat) Deterding, sisters Emily Winkelman and Betty (Duane) Beringer, and many nieces and nephews. Walt was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, parents, sisters Doris and Lorna, and brothers John, Paul and James.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Attic Angel Place in the Garden Room, Middleton, WI.
