Virginia Sonn

McFarland- Virginia Strickland Sonn, age 75, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at St. Mary's Health Care Center after a long battle with Parkinson's. She was born at Stoughton Hospital on February 21, 1939, the daughter of Paul and Serene (Lien) Strickland. Virginia "Ginny" graduated from Madison East High School. She worked as a secretary for Aldo Leopold Elementary school for 13 years and retired in June 2000. Virginia was a long time member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church. She was an artist and excelled at painting, watercolor and Rosemaling. Virginia enjoyed gardening, quilting, family camping trips and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Jason, Hugh and Jill Halverson; three grandsons, Eric Halverson and Austin and Connor Gluth; two brothers, David and Jerry Strickland; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland. Friends may greet the family from 10:30 AM until the time of services Saturday. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
