Virginia Blum

Madison -- Virginia ""Ginny"" Blum, peacefully passed away on January 10, 2011, due to complications from her recently diagnosed diabetes, with her family by her side.   She was born December 19, 1946 to Joseph and Marion (Turk) Nitka of Middleton, WI.   Ginny graduated from Madison West High School and attended Whitewater State College.   On July 12, 1969 she married Jerry Blum of Merrimac.   For the next 20 years Ginny and Jerry resided in locations such as Panama, Florida, California and New Mexico before Jerry's retirement from the Air Force, after which they returned to Wisconsin where they have lived together for the past 20 years. Ginny was employed with Woodman's Food Market until her retirement in early 2009. She enjoyed spending time on the computer listening to her music and yearly vacations to Tampa, FL with Jerry.   She especially enjoyed her new title of ""Grandma"". Ginny is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Jerry, son, Mike (Sheila) Blum of Madison, daughter, Teresa Blum of Madison, grandson Austin Blum.   She is further survived by her father Joseph Nitka, brothers, Joe (Nancy) Nitka, Mike (Pat) Nitka, Mark Nitka, Paul (Debbie)Nitka and Ken (Deanna) Nitka,   sisters-in-law Betty (Dennis) Fisher, Nancy (Don) Bogges, Linda (Terry) Meyer, Joann Nitka, Carol Nitka and numerous other family members.   Ginny was preceded in death by her mother Marion and brother's Pat and John.
