Violet Schomberg

January 14, 1945 — April 23, 2018

WAUNAKEE--Violet A. Schomberg was welcomed to her heavenly home on Monday, April 23, 2018, at age 73, while in her home with loved ones at her side. Her strong faith in God was ever present while fighting a long battle with kidney disease. Vi's unconditional love and deeply caring personality will be missed by family and friends. She was a loving wife of Warren and proud mother of Jolene, Todd, and loving grandmother of Taryn (14), Morgan (12) and Reese (20 months). Violet is the daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor Bohn. She was a graduate of Port Washington high school, the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A. in Human Ecology), and Iowa State University-Ames, Iowa (B.A. Education). She married Warren on April 20, 1968. Following the wedding they moved from Madison, Wis., to Perry, Iowa. After 15 years in Perry they returned to the Madison area in 1983 and have called Waunakee their home since. Vi worked as an elementary teacher, the Waunakee Chamber Hi-Neighbor Coordinator and for the Wisconsin Social Services (WIC Program) for 15 years. Her retirement in 2007 from State Social services resulted in enjoying time with her granddaughters.

An ongoing challenge was Vi's long term kidney disease. In 2011, "the gift of life" miracle kidney transplant occurred. This new lease for life resulted in seven more wonderful years. Vi loved UW events, especially UW basketball and football. Her favorite travel was southwest Florida to shorten winter and enjoy the beaches, Everglades Board Walk, and the sunsets. Vi's favorite city to visit was San Francisco. The most tearful regret is no future hugs from her three granddaughters and never to hear the giggle of granddaughter No. 4 coming October 2018. Vi's selflessness, love for everyone, and strong faith in God was instilled in her family. She lived Matthew 22 verse 37-40: "Love the Lord... love your neighbor as yourself."

Vi is survived by her husband, Warren; daughter, Jolene (Todd) Endres; son, Todd (Jennifer) Schomberg; granddaughters, Taryn Endres, Morgan Endres and Reese Schomberg; and mother-in-law, Lorene Schomberg.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eleanor Bohn; and father-in-law, Willard Schomberg.
