MADISON-Victor R. Nichols, age 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 30, 2014. He was born on Mar. 3, 1924, in Kenton, Ohio, son of Emery W. and Zula (Shertzer) Nichols. He was united in marriage to June Kitchen on May 28, 1979, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison. Victor graduated from Kenton High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, but proudly served most of his military career in the Air Force, retiring in 1970. Victor enjoyed spending time with his family, and watching and listening to sports games. He adored his grandchildren and was very devoted to his family. Victor was very kind hearted, helpful, and appreciative of everyone.
Victor is survived by his wife of 36 years, June; children, Vickie (Edward) Sanford, David Nichols, Roy Nichols, Maria (James) Coffey, Fred (Diane) Kitchen, and Jane Reinhardt; grandchildren, Autumn Sanford, Valerie Kutka, Edward Sanford, Nathan Sanford,April Nichols, Roy Nichols, Victor Nichols, Amanda Coffey, Monica Coffey, and Jessica Coffey; great-grandchildren, Michael, Bryce, Kyle, Alexis, Gabby, Joseph, Nathan and Dillan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby and his second wife, Agnes; daughter, Michelle Nichols; great-grandson, Victor Sanford; brothers, Woodrow, Lewis, and Robert; and sisters, Kathryn, Isabelle, and Josephine.
Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
A special thank you to the Pastors of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Senior Helpers, Heartland Hospice Care, and the staff of William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital for all of the exceptional and compassionate care they provided to Victor and the family.
