Vernus Klosterman

MIDDLETON-Vernus "Vern" L. Klosterman died peacefully in his home on November 25, 2016. He was 92. He was born on October 16, 1924 in rural Dodgeville, WI to the late Maurice and Lena Klosterman and grew up on the family dairy farm between New Glarus and Blanchardville and graduated from Blanchardville High School.

On November 6th, 1942, he married Elaine Delores Wealti of Belleville and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. They had three children Dr. Sheila Fields (Dr. Robert Barahal) of Middleton, WI, Craig Klosterman of San Francisco, CA and Barbara Taylor of Briggs, TX. He has seven grandchildren including Brie (Neal Dixon), Chase, Devon, Courtney, Kelsey, Conner and Graham and 3 great grandchildren including Kaisa (deceased), Lex and Ariana.

Vern, as he was known, ran a series of businesses best known for his time running service stations. He and Elaine were adventurous, choosing to pack up and move to Miami and establish a construction business for a couple of years before deciding to move back to his beloved Wisconsin. He was also a successful investor investing in a variety of real estate including a founding member of a real estate investment firm.

Vern and Elaine had a passion for polka dancing especially in New Glarus. People often commented on their talents. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved to bring smiles to kids faces, his own as well as others.

Visitation will take place from 10-12:00 PM (noon) on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Cress Center with a time of sharing to follow at 12:00 PM and a light lunch. Private burial will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens.
