Vernon Reed

MADISON - Vernon "Vern" E. Reed, age 83, passed away on Wed Sept 27, 2017 at Agrace in Fitchburg. Vern was born June 19, 1934 in rural Dodgeville to the late John and Emma (Lee) Reed. He is a 1952 graduate of Dodgeville High School, and 1959 graduate of Platteville State College with a degree in Agriculture and Biological Services. Vern served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Ruth Ann Steinberg in 1961, celebrated 50 years together before she passed in 2011. Working for the Farmers Home Administration from 1962-1994, he retired after 36 years of service to the Federal Government.
Vern is survived by his daughter Rachelle Reed; 2 grandchildren Kyle and Britteny Borski; a brother Dean Reed, companion Bernie Maulbetsch, special friends Jerry (Bev) Nelson; nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, special son Jeff, and many brothers and sisters.
Following Vern's wishes, there will be a private memorial service held.
