Vernie Mae (Johnson) Stoddard, age 92 of Stoughton Wisconsin, passed away on Sept 26, 2024.
She was born March 2, 1932, in Forsyth Montana to Clarence and Ruby Johnson. She Attended Rocky Mountain Collage in Billings and there met Gordon Stoddard and married on Dec 24, 1955. They were married 68 years. Gordon passed on Oct 14, 2023.
They lived in Montana, Ohio, Michigan and in 1969 moved to Monona Wisconsin where they raised three daughters. They then moved to Stoughton for their retirement years.
Vernie stayed home with her children until they were school age and would then work part time as a secretary, office manager and last as an Executive Assistant for the Mendota Grid Iron Club.
She enjoyed the life balance of home and work. She was an experienced seamstress and often made matching outfits for her and her daughters and later made their wedding dresses. She also enjoyed Embroidery, Crocheting, Knitting and other crafts. She always enjoyed keeping a good yard and flower gardens which included feeding birds, bird nest/boxes and baths.
Vernie and Gordon loved to travel for short local trips and long trips out West. One trip was an Alaskan Cruise!
She is survived by daughters Sherri (Byron) Tetzlaff, Debbi (Dennis Luchterhand) Stoddard, Brenda Stoddard, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Their smiles and laughter are greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held privately with family.
