In Loving Memory
Vernice E (Knapton) Motl, age 78, of Marshall, went to Heaven on May 3, 2015 as she was surrounded by her family at AGrace HospiceCare.
Vernice was born on November 4, 1936, daughter of Verna & William Knapton. Vernice married David Motl on February 8, 1958.
She is survived by her husband David, of 57 years; her daughters Sheila (Jeff) Heiman of Marshall, Karen Motl of Tucson, Arizona, Jean (Rob) Retallick, of Deerfield, and Kathleen Motl of Memphis, Tennessee; as well as six grandchildren, Beth (Jon) Krull of Stevens Point, Sean Retallick of Chicago, Illinois, Craig (Natalie) Heiman of Woodbury, Minnesota, Ryan Retallick of Columbus, Ohio, Grant & Lowell West of Tucson, Arizona; and two great-grandsons Keegan & Karson. Vernice is also survived by her two sisters, Elaine (William) Gruchow of Waterloo and Cecil (Roger) Chadwick of Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents Verna & William Knapton, and brother Roy Knapton.
Vernice held the honor as Miss Marshall, 1953.
Vernice worked for Farmers Mutual Insurance prior to being a full-time Mom for four daughters, and was also a full-time Bookkeeper for Motl Construction. Vernice served several years on the Marshall School Board, was a census taker and pollworker & was very involved with the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society. As an avid sports fan, Vernice & Dave were always in attendance at their daughters' and grandchildrens' numerous music events, volleyball, football, softball, baseball, and basketball games for many years. Vernice enjoyed being with her family, traveling, cheering on the Packers & Badgers, watching NASCAR races, and she loved visiting with her Great Grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Vernice will be 1:00pm, Friday May 8, 2015 at Holy Family Parish/St. Mary of the Nativity, 112 S. Beebe St., Marshall with Father Jorge Miramontes presiding.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to AGrace HospiceCare.
Vernice's family is sincerely thankful for all the love and care extended to Vernice and them by the staff at Agrace HospiceCare.
