Dayton/DeForest - Trygve A. Strand, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at his home in DeForest. He was born on December 10, 1947 in Madison, the son of Trygve and Virginia (Quigley) Strand. Trygve graduated from Madison East High School in 1966. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he went on to receive a B.A. in English from UW Parkside and he did some graduate work at UW Madison. He owned the Ammo Box in Sun Prairie for over 20 years retiring in October of 2014. Trygve was known for his great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved animals, especially his dogs, Max and Sunshine, and all his cats too numerous to name. His hobbies were fishing, target shooting, motorcycling, listening to music and going to Ho Chunk.
He is survived by his life partner of 28 years, Marion Michaels of DeForest; his daughters, Krista (Dan) Daniels of Madison and Erika Strand of Monroe; grandchildren, Torin and Lily Daniels; sister, Sue (Jim) Huff and niece, Catherine (Michael) VanPaemel of Dubuque, IA; nephew, Steven (Teresa) Huff, of Manchester, IA; numerous grand nephews, nieces and cousins.
Trygve was preceded in death by his parents and best dog Max.
A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Trygve's name to Wounded Warrior Project.
