Alme, Florabell "Tootsie"
Stoughton- Florabell "Tootsie" Alme, age 84, passed away following a brief illness, surrounded by her family, at Stoughton Hospital on Saturday, March 31, 2012. She was born in Stoughton on February 2, 1928, a daughter of Emil and Hazel (Long) Erickson. On October 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Melvin Alme in Galena, IL. Together, they farmed in the Town of Dunkirk for 50 years. She loved children, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Animals especially her dog Josie and her cats were another love. She enjoyed watching sports, including basketball, golf, and especially college and professional football. She was a Badger and Packer fan. At one time, Tootsie was considered the best female bowler in Stoughton. Tootsie enjoyed traveling with Mel, visiting Norway four times. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Tootsie is remembered as a caring person, who loved people and family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband, Mel; 4 children, David (Carol) Alme, Ann Hans, John (Luann) Alme, and Mary Zimmerman; 10 grandchildren, Mack, Melanie, Austin, Carrie, Krissy, Jamie, Renee, Jenna, Carly and Aaron; a brother, Edward Erickson; a sister, Florence Short; 2 sisters-in-law, Berdine Alme and Marion Gjertson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Alda May Felio, Bonnie Tenjum, and Karen Jones; a brother, Sonny; and a son-in-law, Rich Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Bill Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton on Tuesday, April 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and again at church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tootsie's name, to be distributed to her favorite charities.
