Timothy John Stanek, 73, Fitchburg, Wisconsin 8/17/1948--7/11/2022

Timothy John Stanek was born in Madison, Wisconsin on August 17, 1948, Tim was the son of George and Susan Stanek (nee Birbeck). A lifelong Madison boy, Tim grew up just off Monroe Street, and with his twin brother, Tom, attended Edgewood High School with the class of 1966. Tim “started-up” six successful Wisconsin corporations from early 1970 to the mid-1980’s. He mentored many executives who went on to further success. He was married to the lively and lovely Janice England, a devoted mother, and enjoyed watching his daughters Joanna and Samantha mature as young brides and mothers. In the 1990’s he married Luz Maria Gonzalez Villarreal, and enjoyed decades of travel and learning in most all the states in Mexico. His dearest companion, Ellen Sandow (nee DeMuth) was a valuable and beloved asset to him in later years.

As a car collector, he always said his problem wasn’t buying cars – it was selling them. Tim had many hobbies as an audiophile and guitar player, as well as woodworking and historical research. But most important to him were his beautiful daughters Joanna (Vanna) and Samantha (Perrot), and their precious children Colton, Jordan and Gavin. They enriched Tim’s life experience dramatically over the decades.

Tim is survived by his beloved companion, Ellen Sandow; daughters Joanna (Mike) Vanna and Samantha (Chad) Perrott; grandchildren Colton and Jordan Perrott and Gavin Vanna; as well as his brother Kenneth (Marsha); sisters Susan Girolamo and Nancy Stanek; and cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Thomas, aunts Elizabeth Stanek and Idell "Betty" Stanek, and brother-in-law Peter Girolamo.

(Ever the thoughtful person, Tim wrote his own obituary last year. His comments are enlightening as to his interests and feelings about his own life and accomplishments.)

The memorial gathering will be held at Tim’s home on Saturday, July 16 at 1 pm.
