Thomas Thorpe Sr. of Evansville, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 8, 1938, in Blair, WI, to Alf and Ruth Thorpe.

Tom moved to Madison, WI, where he grew up and graduated from Madison East High School in 1956. He then joined the Army and served for three years. Tom married Vera on January 23, 1960, at First Congregational Church in Monona, WI.

Tom worked as a mail carrier for the USPS and retired after 33 years. He then worked as a mower of fairways and such at the Evansville Golf Course. He loved getting up at 4:30 am because it was so peaceful without a lot of people around.

Tom was a sports fan. Football was his favorite sport to watch and the Packers were his favorite football team.

Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vera; two sons, Thomas (Kathy) Thorpe Jr., and Mark (Dee) Thorpe; and seven grandchildren, Samantha (Joseph) Vargo, Valerie Johanson, Alex (Andrew) McNaught, Jake (Kaitlin) Thorpe, Thomas Thorpe III, Aaron (Hannah Gargrave) Thorpe, Nathaniel (Jasmine) Thorpe; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Bill Lehman officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services Thursday at church.
