Thomas Ray
Miller
April 28, 1934 – May 16, 2026
Tom Miller, age 92 of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Tom worked in the furniture business for much of his life, eventually owning Town and Country House Furniture Store. He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan who had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including collecting railroadiana - how many train tracks did we walk, and antique stores did we visit; wood crafting; tinkering; and dumpster diving - living up to his “don’t throw it away, I can fix it” mantra.
He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors and especially loved spending time with his family camping, canoeing and fishing in Canada, Northern Wisconsin, and at his cottage on the Mississippi River.
We will always remember him for his love, knowledge, curiosity, wisdom, and humor.
Tom is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rene Miller; daughter Sandy (George) Carney; son Chase Miller; grandchildren Krista (Jeff) Wurzel, Tanya (Andrew) Phistry, and Josh (Kristin) Carney; great-grandchildren Madisen, Michael, and Matthew Wurzel; brother Bob (Joan) Miller; brother-in-law Bill Boyd; and his niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Vicki Miller-Graves; his sister Marilyn Uhrig and her husband Arley, and two nieces.
The family has plans for a private Celebration of Life.
The Clock of life is wound but once.
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
On what day or what hour.
Now is the only time you have
So live it with a will
Don’t wait until tomorrow
The hands may then be still.
