Thomas Lunde

Stoughton- Thomas Johan Lunde, age 80, passed away on February 5, 2022 from complications of lymphoma. He was born on November 4, 1941, the son of Olaf and Ruby Lunde. He graduated from Stoughton Senior High after spending grades 1-8 in rural one-room schools.

Tom served in the US Army. He worked for Ameritech, ending his career as an engineer. He was an active member of the American Legion, the Sons of Norway, the Stoughton Conservation Club, and the Stoughton United Methodist church, volunteering for years in their food pantry. He greatly enjoyed his years as a Norwegian Dancer parent. He taught Hunter's Safety to youngsters for almost 50 years. He loved his annual canoe trips to Quetico, fishing, hunting, skiing, music and restoring his land to forest and prairies. He was an accomplished woodworker.

Tom loved his family, was a great hug-giver, and had an uncanny ability to make friends instantly. He never complained in his illness. He traveled widely and felt it was important to experience the beauty of our world and its people. He especially enjoyed Botswana, Norway and our National Parks.

Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia, children Jill (Tim) Jones, Jeff ( Lori) Lunde, grandchildren Ellen ( Caleb) Hayes, Will (Anna) Jones, brother Jim ( Sharon) Lunde, sister Janet (Bob) Fruth, and many relatives.

A funeral service will be held at Stoughton United Methodist Church on Friday February 11 at 3 pm, with visitation from 1pm until 3 pm. Covid care will be practiced. In lieu of flowers, please donate blood in his honor. Memorials are suggested to Stoughton United Methodist Church.
