Thomas R. Fisher

Thomas R. Fisher, age 93, of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 6, 2024. He was born June 24, 1931, in Beaver Dam, WI to Kenneth and Frieda (Bohl) Fisher. He attended Beaver Dam High School, Wayland Jr. College and graduated in 1953 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He moved to Milwaukee and was employed by First Wisconsin National Bank. In 1954, he returned to Beaver Dam and was employed at First National Bank & Trust Co. of Beaver Dam (now BMO Harris Bank). Tom married Carol A. Schwarz on June 17, 1956. He retired as president of the bank in 1991. 

While in Beaver Dam, Tom served on the Beaver Dam Community Library board, Oakwood Cemetery association board, Beaver Dam Industrial Corporation board and various committees of Trinity Church-United Methodist of Beaver Dam. He and Carol enjoyed many years of international travel, cheering on the Badgers, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.

In 2009, Tom and Carol moved to Sun Prairie, WI where they enjoyed a close-knit community of friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, daughters Ann (Steven) Sturner and Amy (Tom Lorenz) Fisher, and grandchildren Michelle and Catherine Sturner. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, James (Beverly) Schwarz, and nephews Mark Schwarz and Eric Schwarz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Donald (Audrey) Fisher, stepmother Gertrude Fisher, nephew Steven Fisher, and niece Beth (Schwarz) Schultz.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 12, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North St., Sun Prairie with pastor Brad Mather presiding. 

A luncheon and gathering to share memories will be held from 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church following the service. Private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tom & Carol Fisher Scholarship Fund at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church. The Scholarship Fund was established in 2017 for the students attending a University of Wisconsin system school pursuing a degree in business or education.
