Thomas Peter Adas, 81, of Stoughton, Wisconsin, died on November 2, 2023.
He was born in Chicago in 1942 to Patrick and Phyllis, oldest of four brothers. Tom attended Cambridge High School before studying education at UW-Platteville. He went on to be a high school Earth Science teacher at Verona High School for twenty-nine years. Tom especially enjoyed the Honors Earth Science field trips in which they biked the Military Ridge Trail and went canoeing in the Kickapoo River.
Tom met his first wife, Joan Yager, while teaching in Highland and they married in 1968. They raised two sons, Jeff and Michael, and enjoyed thirty-one years of marriage before Joan’s death in 2000 from ovarian cancer.
Tom then met Sandy Carman and they married in 2001. The linking of their two families brought them both great joy. Sandy showed Tom the world; they visited a whopping twenty countries. When they were not traveling, they split their time living in Cambridge, WI and The Villages, FL. After eighteen years of marriage, Tom lost Sandy to multiple myeloma.
Throughout his life Tom enjoyed playing sports (golf, softball, basketball), Scrabble, gardening, hiking, fishing, pets (cats), and spending time with his grand kids (especially making up words and funny songs).
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, and his brother Pat Adas. Tom is survived by his brothers David (Mary) Adas and Phil (Sue) Adas, sons Jeff (Tracy) Adas and Michael Adas, stepson Aaron (Amy) Carman, stepdaughter Jenny Carman, grandchildren Emily (Sam) Arendt, Nolan Adas, Kelly Carman Johnson, Sandra Carman Johnson and Ava Carman.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Tom’s honor.
