Thelma Wrobbel

Madison - Thelma Marilyn Ewert Wrobbel, age 83, passed into God's care on December 16, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.

Thelma was born on March 8, 1933 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Mildred (Saunders) and Paul Ewert. At age six, the family moved to Bensenville, IL where Thelma has fond memories of time spent with the Bensenville Bible Church youth group. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her cousins during many family trips to Major, Saskatchewan, Canada.

In 1955, Thelma graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL and began her elementary school teaching career in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she met Robert (Bob) Wrobbel at church. She spent a year studying at Columbia Bible College in South Carolina before marrying Bob on July 1, 1961.

Thelma continued teaching in the greater Chicago area and later in Madison. In 1965, she and Bob (and baby Annette) moved to Bayfield, WI where Bob served as pastor of Faith Baptist Church, and Andrea and Alison completed the family. In 1973, they moved to Madison to continue their ministry at Elim Baptist Church. She continued to enjoy travel with family, and later, devoted much time to her grandchildren.

Thelma is survived by her daughters, Annette Wrobbel and Andrea (Jon Ong) Wrobbel (Minneapolis) and three grandchildren, Park and Farren Lockridge (Madison) and Duncan Ong. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Myrna, brother Ken, and youngest daughter, Alison Lockridge.

A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the time of services.

The family wants to express its immense gratitude to Agrace HospiceCare for the genuinely loving care they gave to Thelma and the family, and to the wonderful friends who provided so much care and support during her final years.
