Madison - Thelma "Pauline" Schwenn, age 89, died on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Karmenta Nursing Home in Madison.

Pauline was born on May 31, 1924 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Walter and Blanche (Halverson) Johnson. Pauline was a graduate of Dodgeville High School and later married Arthur Schwenn on March 1, 1947 in Madison.

Pauline was a longtime Cottage Grove resident and worked for many years for DeMars, Inc. She was also a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Madison. Pauline enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, working in the garden with her husband, having fun with slot machines and her breakfast trips with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their sporting events.

Pauline is survived by her four children, Gary (Jerri) Schwenn of Cottage Grove, Rhonda Schwenn (Michael Crume) of Madison, Alan Schwenn of Cottage Grove and Rick Schwenn of Madison; 3 grandchildren, Derek, Darren and Ryan; 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Legler of Sun Prairie and Carolyn Schwenn of Madison and a brother-in-law, Ray (Joan) Schwenn of Oregon.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur in 2004 and two brothers, Milo and Elmo Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in her memory.
Funeral services will take place at the Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will also take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A private family burial will be held at a later time.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Karmenta Nursing Home and the staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the care they gave to their mother.
