Terry Lester Wing

September 25, 1945 — August 5, 2024

Waterloo/Madison

Terry Lester Wing born, September 25, 1945 went home to be with the Lord on August 5th, 2024. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Jim) Betancourt, son Jay (Lisa) Wing, grandsons Jim and Brandon (Laura) Betancourt, granddaughters Amber and Ashley Wing, great grandson Bowen Betancourt; and siblings Edward Wing and Robert (Judy) Wing.

Terry was a long-time member Heritage Congregational Church, it's choir and the Quest Octet. He enjoyed ministering to loved ones through music. "Dad Wing's" home was a sanctuary to many, he loved and nurtured everyone he came in contact with. He was an avid canasta and scrabble player and enjoyed his collection of model trains. Dad could always be found researching scripture, watching Johnny Carson, or working on a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls.

He was an amazing husband to his wife Jackie and was blessed to love and be loved by her for 46 years. Their devotion to one another was a true example to their entire family. He was a dedicated Dad who taught his children through example and was a comfort and peaceful presence in their lives. He was a wonderful listener and giver of wisdom. His grandchildren, nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. Whether they were in Madison, Appleton or Austin he always knew what they were up to.

In Spring of 2022 Terry moved to Riverwalk in Waterloo, WI where he settled into his new community and second family. He became active in St Paul’s Lutheran Church, attended beer and bible studies with fellow parishioners and would go to lunch regularly with Pastor Bob or Pastor Tim. Dad loved to share his love of Christ with everyone he came in contact with. On any given day you could find Terry in town visiting the “Pig” or on his way to the local café. Dad is remembered by the residents at Riverwalk as a kind, generous man who could really cook.

The last few weeks of his life were filled with family, friends, and music. He entered hospice care via Agrace in April. The Agrace and Riverwalk staff were a breath of fresh air every day and helped each family member prepare for his passing with dignity and peace. We are appreciative to each and every person who came in contact with Terry. Words cannot express our gratitude. A public celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
