Tedd Gimber

Tedd Herman Gimber, age 75, of Middleton died at his home, with his family at his side, on Saturday, May 12, 2012 following a long battle with cancer. He was born on December 22, 1936 in Oaklawn, Illinois to Louis Herman and Edna Ericka (Rune) Gimber. Tedd married Mary Trel Torget on June 16, 1979 at the Timberline Ski Area in Arena, WI. Tedd finished his formal education in Chicago, sailed in the Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes for two years and then worked as a mechanic for several years. He moved to the Madison area in the 1970's which he called home for the remainder of his life. He taught himself home remodeling and bought Cabinet Pac that later became Kitchens by Custom Craftsman which he operated until his retirement. He remodeled the family home and built a woodworking shop by the garage. Tedd pursued his life long love of sailing and also enjoyed boat building, downhill skiing, bicycling and wood working. Tedd is survived by his wife Mary Trel Gimber; his son Tedd W. (Barbara) Gimber; his daughter, Christine A. Gimber (Scott Nelson); step-son, John W. (Sandy) Torget; grandsons, Tedd M. and Sean P. Gimber; and his granddaughter, Clare R. Nelson. Tedd was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Burt Gimber; and two sisters, Gloria Marchbank and Lilian Pat Gimber. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 5763 County Road Q, Waunakee Rev Ben Ehrets will preside and a luncheon will follow.
