Susanne “Susie” Berberet, 90 years young, passed away at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge on April 30, 2026. Susie was born in Keokuk, Iowa on St. Patrick’s Day, 1936, the daughter of Carl and Mary (Roan) Pflug. Descended from Irish immigrants, she wore her green proudly throughout her life.

Susie met Larry Berberet on a golf course and love followed (for golf and each other). They married on June 14, 1958 and began a journey that led them to Davenport, IA, Marlton, NJ, and Sun Prairie, WI. Along the way their family grew to include children Chris, Julia and Mary. Over the years seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren followed.

Larry passed away in 2002, and Susie lived a strong and resolute life as a widow for 24 years, surrounded and supported by her family and a circle of cherished friends who helped give her life purpose and joy. She was a devoted member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie for over 50 years, and her faith was always a source of great strength and comfort.

Susie loved Badger basketball and football, anything Notre Dame, and Milwaukee Brewers baseball. Golf was always her passion and times spent on the golf course with Larry, and later her golf “buddies”, were treasured. Susie carded a hole in one on a golf trip to South Carolina and loved to tease Larry that she had made one and he had not.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, and infant children Michael and Cynthia. She is survived by her children Chris (Susan), Julia (Mike), and Mary (Mike). Her grandchildren include Kate, Anna (Hans), Maia (Sydney), Charlie, Abby, Ellie, and Rylan. Her great grandchildren are Graham, Raeya, Paige, and Denny.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM on Monday May 18, 2026 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM. Susie will be brought to her final place of rest in a private ceremony at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sun Prairie.  

Our family thanks, with heartfelt love, the staff at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge HRC for their care, love and support over the past 17 months. Susie was at home with you, and you became her family too.

We will miss you Mom/Grandma/Gigi! Your love, strength and determination were an inspiration to all of us, and your legacy lives on in your family.
