Susan Alice Wheaton, age 70, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 14, 1956, in Batavia, New York, the daughter of R. David and Alice (Miller) Wheaton.

Susan studied drawing and graphic design in college and had a lifelong passion for creativity. She loved crafting and creating art in many forms. She dedicated 40 years of her career as a mortgage underwriter, where she was known for her diligence and commitment.

Susan found great joy in the outdoors. She loved hiking, camping, and fishing, as well as visiting new places and exploring caves and historical sites. She also enjoyed country music and Broadway musicals. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family—especially hosting gatherings filled with laughter and love.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Samantha Hopkins and Kristina Noon; her five grandchildren whom she adored, Coby, Rowen, Nixon, Dylan, and Freya; sisters, Joan Maucere and Ruth Wheaton-Cox; and brother, Max Wheaton.
