Susan K. Wentland

Susan “Susie” Kay Wentland (Schlaver) age 68 Passed away at her home Wednesday April 10, 2024. She was born August 21, 1955, in Boscobel Wisconsin. Eldest daughter of Donald and Dolores Schlaver, and wife to the Late James “Jimbo” Robert Wentland.

Sue met her companion in life Jim, in High School at James Madison Memorial, but their friendship did not develop until they worked together at Copp’s grocery store in the mid 1970’s. They had their first date Several years later in late 1980. After a long courtship they Married on February 28, 2018. They were together until Jim Passed Away July 1, 2018. Sue and Jim were a “match made in heaven” and now are together again. 

Sue was very dedicated to her work as a cashier at Copp’s, Shopko and most recently Pick-n-Save sometimes at the expense of missing family dinners and holiday’s. A valued employee: she was a kind soul, very friendly and loved by her regular customers. It was said by many that they would always make sure to go thru Susie’s checkout line to say hi. 

Sue was a shopper and collector. She could not pass up a “Good Deal.” Her home was like a museum of all collectables 1960-Present, Breyer Horses were among her favorites. Sue Loved Animals Big and small, in particular Horses and Cats. Her and Jim had many Cats throughout their time together and those were their children.

Sue is Survived by a Brother Steven Schlaver of Waunakee, a sister Sandra Laux of Sun Prairie, and a nephew Tyson Laux of Sun Prairie. A few cherished Aunts & Uncles and many cousins. She will be missed by her cat and constant companion Tiger.

She is Preceded in Death By her Husband James and Her Parents Donald and Dolores.

Friends and Family can pay their respects at the visitation on Wednesday April 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Cress Funeral Home 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, Wisconsin.  A short ceremony/prayer will follow at 11:00 a.m..
