Stoughton- Susan Corcoran Liebhardt of Stoughton passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2017, from Idiopathic Pulmonary Hemosiderosis with her family and friends at her side. She was born in Beloit, WI, the daughter of John and Merilee Dawes Corcoran. The family moved to Rockford IL when Susan was in first grade. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School and then attended Creighton University for a year. Susan graduated from Marquette University with a degree in speech therapy. In 1967 Susan married Thomas Dwight Liebhardt at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn, WI. They moved to Stoughton in 1975. Though Susan's greatest love was her family and friends, she also had many interests in reading, movies and sports, gardening, knitting and crocheting as well as furniture making, to name of few. From the time she was a young girl, Susan's family spent their summers at Pleasant Lake near Elkhorn WI. This gave her a life-long love of fishing and boating, though she did not live on the lake again. The Liebhardt swimming pool was always filled with friends. Susan spent 24 years working as a Special Education Teachers Assistant at River Bluff Middle School, which she greatly loved. Kids at a fun age and an awesome staff made the time go fast. Many of her closest friends she met at River Bluff. While there she was active in the Educational Assistants union.
Susan is survived by her four children: John (Rose Armour), Washington DC; Beth, Wauwatosa, WI; Barbara, Minot, ND and Gerald, Chicago, IL. She is further survived by her brothers: Jerry Corcoran (Deforest); Jack, Verona, WI; James, Verona, WI and Michael, Chicago, IL. She leaves a dear sister-in-law Diane Corcoran, Petoskey, MI and a niece and three nephews, dear cousins and the "lights of her life," grandchildren Ben Gorzek, Madison, WI and Margot Liebhardt, Washington, DC. She leaves many dear friends as well as her former husband Thomas Liebhardt. She was preceded in death by Stephen John Corcoran and Thomas James Corcoran.
