Susan Katherine Baumgart passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 with her loving family around her at Hyland Crossings in Sun Prairie, WI. Sue was 87 years old.
She was born on May 2, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wi to Margaret and Matthew Hahn. She attended Holy Angels High school and later studied at Marquette University. Shortly after, Sue met and married her beloved husband Robert Baumgart on October 6, 1956. Initially, they lived in Wauwatosa Wi above Bob’s dental office and later moved to Brown Deer, WI where they raised their three daughters; Terri, Karen, and Amy. Sue was a devoted and loving mother to her girls, acting as a Girl Scout leader for all three daughters and always welcoming the neighborhood children into her house. She also taught religious education at St Catherine’s school for a number of years.
Sue supported Bob in his dental practice throughout her life, working in the office as a receptionist and belonging to the Woman’s Dental Auxiliary. She brought a puppet show on dental health to many of the local school children. Sue and her husband greatly enjoyed the arts, attending the opera, symphony, and theatre. They enjoyed sharing these interests with their daughters and later their grandchildren. They also loved to travel and toured many beautiful sites in the US, Mexico, and Europe.
Making her home a warm and welcoming place and spending time with her family were always her priorities and joy. Sue enjoyed entertaining family and friends and always made sure her guests were comfortable in her home. Sue was a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren who remember many happy hours spent with their Nana.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Margaret Hahn, her sister Winifred (Teresa) Hahn and her husband Robert Baumgart. Sue is survived by her brother Michael Hahn (Mary) her daughters Therese Mason (Jack Bernfeld) in McFarland Wi, Karen Norman (Jeffrey) of Apple River Il, Amy Baumgart (Lynne Pethtel) of Ashland OR, her grandchildren Katherine Norman (Scott Campbell), Jacob Norman, Margaret Fitzsimmons (Kenneth), and Sarah Mentele (William). Great-grandchildren Aubrie, Lily, Jaxon, George, Joseph, Etta, Mattie, Wynn, niece Ann, and nephews Joe and Pete Hahn.
