Obituary

Stormy‑Kito Aliyah Tzedek Justice, 51, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with an aggressive pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Stormy was born on February 28, 1975, in Milwaukee, WI, to Pamela and the late Clarence Lever.

Stormy was a man of deep passion, warmth, and conviction. He found joy in the simple things—dogs, the outdoors, and any moment spent near the water. Sports were an unwavering thread throughout his life, with the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and the WNBA holding a special place in his heart, along with any amazing running back, especially a collegiate one.

A proud alumnus of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Stormy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He later earned his Master’s Degree from Edgewood College. He completed graduate studies in areas including both nursing and business. His career as a nurse at UW Hospital and within Dane County Public Health’s Sexual Reproductive Health Team embodied his lifelong dedication to caring for others. Stormy approached his work with compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitments to justice and service

He cherished his role as a Queer Elder and embraced his identity wholeheartedly. Stormy was deeply engaged in Jewish life and community. He was active at Beth Israel Center and Congregation Shaarei Shamayim and recently completed his term on the board of Jewish Social Services. At the time of his passing, he was devotedly pursuing Rabbinical studies, working toward his dream of becoming a Rabbi.

On February 1, 2026, the day he received his diagnosis, Stormy and his partner Meier made the heartfelt decision to marry. Surrounded by family and friends, they exchanged vows on Super Bowl Sunday, February 8, and still made it home in time for the game—because they would never miss it. One of his great joys was honeymooning in Kenya with his beloved husband and the love of his life.

Stormy is survived by his beloved partner and loving husband, Dr. Elaina G. Meier; the love of his life and brother, Devyn Avery Justice Brown; his mother, Pamela Lever-Johnson; his children, Jordell and Brianna Justice; brothers Frank R. Johnson and Michael Steven Williams; his cherished K‑9 companion, Jupiter Grace; his father‑in‑law Micheal E. Meier (Nancy Stohs). He is further survived by a large and loving circle of family, both given and chosen, and innumerable friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Lever; his great-grandmother, Thomascene Brown; his mother‑in‑law, Sharon K. Meier; and his “heart dog,” Delilah “Lilah” Justice.

A funeral service will be held at Beth Israel Center, 1406 Mound St., on Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. Stormy will be laid to rest at Beit Olamin Cemetery.

Stormy was a man of passion, intellect, humor, and profound love. When the bright light of his smile was cast upon you, he had the ability to make you feel like you were the only one in the room. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the communities he strengthened, and the compassion he shared so freely. He loved and loves so fully, richly and deeply, and is loved just as fully, richly and deeply.
