Stephen Edward Marshall, age 48, passed away suddenly on December 5, 2013 in Verona Wisconsin, due to a pre-existing health issue. He was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and John Marshall Law School. Steve was a loving father, husband, son and brother. Steve was honorably discharged from the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, where he received numerous awards and commendations. He continued his service to his country and began his duty with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent on September 28, 1997, and was assigned to the Milwaukee Division, Madison Resident Agency. While serving as a Special Agent, Steve worked a variety of investigative programs. His collateral duties included SWAT team leader, sniper team leader, defensive tactics and fitness instructor. Steve served two tours of duty with the FBI in Afghanistan. During his career, Steve received multiple commendations and awards, including the FBI Medal of Valor. This medal was awarded for Steve's heroic actions under fire in Afghanistan that saved the life of a US Armed Services member.
Steve dedicated his life to his family and in service to his country.
Steve took great pride in working closely with the FBI's local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.
Steve is survived by his wife Lisa (Caranna) Marshall and two daughters, Madeline and Natalie; father Robert Marshall; mother Kathryn Arndt; sister Christi (Marshall) Lallier, brother-in-law Jim Lallier, nephews and niece Stephen, Marissa, and David Lallier; mother-in-law Liz Caranna; father-in-law and wife Doctors Charles and Deborah Kennedy Caranna; brother in law Charles Caranna, Jr. and his son Joseph; sister-in-law Marissa Caranna.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the CRESS CENTER, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705. Funeral Services with Full Honors will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, WI 53711, with a visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
Memorials may be made to a fund that will be established for the children's
educational fund at Middleton Community Bank, 3207 Parmenter Street,
