Shri Om Prakash Rihani, husband of Smt. Sneh Rihani passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. He was 81 years old and lived in Madison, Wisconsin for the past five years. He was born near Lahore, in the district of Multan, within the province of Punjab in Undivided India. He was an only child born to mother Ganeshi Rihani and father Khushi Ram Rihani.
Om was industrious, hardworking, and most importantly a loving husband and father. He arrived in India as a 3 year old refugee during the forced migration of millions when the Partition of India and Pakistan happened. Starting from those humble beginnings, he worked hard to educate himself to a Masters level while working for the only firm he would ever be employed by. He started his career as an Assistant Manager at what was then known as C.Itoh and Co. and would eventually become Itochu Corporation, one of the largest global conglomerates. He eventually retired as the Managing Director of the Indian subsidiary after a 47 year career trading everything from pins, to ships, to satellites!
Om and Sneh were married for nearly 59 years. They were married on February 8, 1967 and raised three children. Daughter Richa Rihani, residing in Bangalore India, eldest son Ritesh Rihani, residing in Madison, Wisconsin, USA and the youngest son, Ribhu Rihani, residing in Melbourne, Australia.
He was a religious man, and deeply spiritual. He was devoted to his family and in particular to his partner in life, Sneh. He devoted his retirement to taking care of her, as she had done for him. He was a flag bearer of his culture and traditions.
He lived most of his adult life in Delhi, India and moved to Madison with Sneh in October 2020 during Covid. He initially lived in Monroe Commons (above Trader Joes) for three years before moving to Capitol Lakes. He loved living in Madison close to his son Ritesh and his family including Mary, his wife, and twin daughters Mira and Veda who were a constant source of joy for him. Richa’s children Antara Anand and Aryaan Anand visited to spend time with their grandfather as often as possible.
His time in Madison was joyful and he found pleasure in being with the family on every occasion, whether it be Diwali, Thanksgiving, Halloween or Christmas.
Om is survived and deeply mourned by Richa, Ritesh & Mary, Ribhu & Samara, Antara, Aryaan & Ashley, Mira & Veda, and many others all over the world.
